My name is Jai’Quan my family and friends call me "Jai", in January of 2012 I was diagnosed with cancer{ Maxilla Facial Sarcoma}. I went through multiple surgeries, multiple chemotherapy treatments, radiation treatments, etc. It was not only scary for me but it was also scary for my parents to witness. Fast forward a year and a couple months, the morning of the big surgery to remove the cancerous tumor behind my left eye, It was a 14 hour surgery. On June 19, 2013 I had a follow up doctors appointment and as soon I rolled in the room, I could just feel the blessings and joy from all the doctors and parents. My Doctor handed me a paper that said "On this day, me [Jaiquan] is CANCER FREE". I could do nothing but cry tears of joy But, I say this to say, You/we don’t have to have similar stories to be a Survivor. It could be multiple backgrounds, multiple stories, different this, different that, if you’ve ever been in hard times or through hardships and struggles and survived. You are a Survivor.
